MahjCheck™ Terms of ServiceWelcome to MahjCheck™. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Celebrate Everything Apparel & Design, LLC ("we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the MahjCheck™ mobile application ("MahjCheck™" or "the app").By downloading, installing, or using MahjCheck™, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.Last updated: 05/05/2026-
1. What MahjCheck™ is
MahjCheck™ is a tool that uses your device's camera and an AI service to help identify American mahjong tiles and suggest hands from the 2025 and 2026 mahjong cards that your tiles may be building toward. MahjCheck™ is intended as a practice and reference aid for mahjong players. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the National Mah Jongg League or any other mahjong organization.
2. Who can use MahjCheck™
You must be at least 13 years old to use MahjCheck™. By using the app, you represent that you meet this age requirement and that you have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms.
3. License to use the app
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use MahjCheck™ on devices you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use, and subject to these Terms and the Apple App Store's terms of service.
You may not:
Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of MahjCheck™
Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app
Use MahjCheck™ to build a competing product or service
Use automated means (bots, scripts, scrapers) to access or interact with the app
Use MahjCheck™ in any way that violates applicable law or these Terms
4. Hand identification is not guaranteed to be accurate
MahjCheck™ uses artificial intelligence to identify tiles and suggest possible hands. AI-based identification can be wrong. Lighting, camera angle, tile condition, and other factors can affect accuracy.
You agree that you will not rely on MahjCheck™ as the sole authority on your hand, particularly during live or competitive play. Always verify your hand against your official mahjong card. We are not responsible for gameplay outcomes, disputes, or decisions made based on MahjCheck™'s output.
5. Your content and camera use
When you use the scan feature, MahjCheck™ accesses your device's camera to capture photos of your tiles. As described in our Privacy Policy, these photos are sent to our AI provider for identification and are not retained by us.
By using the scan feature, you represent that you have the right to photograph the tiles and surroundings in the image.
6. Intellectual property
MahjCheck™, including its name, logo, design, code, copy, and all associated branding ("Celebrate Every Win!" and related marks), is owned by Celebrate Everything Apparel & Design, LLC and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
The MahjCheck™ name and logo are trademarks of Celebrate Everything Apparel & Design, LLC. You may not use them without our written permission.
Official mahjong card content, hand names, and related terminology referenced in the app are the property of their respective owners.
7. Third-party services
MahjCheck™ relies on third-party services, including Anthropic's Claude API for tile identification and the Apple App Store for distribution. Your use of these services is governed by their own terms, which you should review:

We are not responsible for the practices, availability, or content of third-party services.
8. No warranties
MahjCheck™ is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't promise the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that identification results will be accurate or complete.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Celebrate Everything Apparel & Design, LLC, its officers, employees, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of MahjCheck™ — including but not limited to lost winnings, gameplay disputes, loss of data, or any reliance on the app's output.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to MahjCheck™ or these Terms will not exceed the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months preceding the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above may not apply to you.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Celebrate Everything Apparel & Design, LLC and its officers, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of MahjCheck™, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another person or entity.
11. Changes to the app and these Terms
We may update, change, or discontinue MahjCheck™, or any part of it, at any time without notice. We may also update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes will be communicated within the app or on our website.
Your continued use of MahjCheck™ after changes to these Terms means you accept the updated Terms.
12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to MahjCheck™ at any time if we believe you've violated these Terms or for any other reason. You may stop using MahjCheck™ at any time by deleting it from your device.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law) will survive.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or MahjCheck™ will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in [your county], California, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect.
14. Apple-specific terms
If you downloaded MahjCheck™ from the Apple App Store, the following additional terms apply, as required by Apple:
These Terms are between you and Celebrate Everything Apparel & Design, LLC only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for MahjCheck™ or its content.
Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for MahjCheck™.
In the event MahjCheck™ fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any). To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to MahjCheck™.
Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to MahjCheck™, including product liability, consumer protection, or intellectual property claims.
Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

We built MahjCheck™ with privacy in mind. We don't want your data — we just want to help you enjoy mahjong.
The short version
MahjCheck™ does not require an account, login, or any personal information to use.
When you scan a hand, the photo is sent to Anthropic (our AI provider) for identification, then discarded. We don't store your photos.
We don't track you, sell your data, or share it with advertisers. There are no ads in MahjCheck™.
The app uses your camera only when you choose to scan a hand.
Information MahjCheck™ handles
Photos of your tiles
When you use MahjCheck™ to scan a hand, the app captures a photo using your device's camera and sends it to Anthropic's Claude API, which identifies the tiles in the image. Once the identification is complete, the photo is not retained by us. Anthropic's handling of data sent to its API is governed by Anthropic's own privacy and data usage policies, available at anthropic.com.
We do not store your tile photos on our servers. Photos remain on your device only to the extent your device's operating system temporarily caches them.
Device and app information
MahjCheck™ does not collect personal information about you or your device. We do not use third-party analytics, tracking SDKs, or advertising identifiers.
Apple may collect limited diagnostic and usage information through the App Store and TestFlight to help us identify crashes and stability issues. This information is provided to us in aggregated, anonymized form and is governed by Apple's privacy policy. You can opt out of sharing this information in your device's Settings under Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.
Information you send us
If you contact us directly (for example, by emailing our support address), we'll receive whatever information you choose to share — typically your email address and the contents of your message. We use this only to respond to you and do not add you to any mailing list unless you ask to join one.
How your information is used
The photos you submit through MahjCheck™ are used solely to identify your mahjong tiles and return that information back to you within the app. We do not use your photos or any other information to build profiles, train models, or for marketing.
Third-party services
MahjCheck™ uses Anthropic's Claude API to identify mahjong tiles in the photos you capture. By using the scan feature, you understand that your tile photos are transmitted to Anthropic for processing. Anthropic's privacy practices are described at anthropic.com and we encourage you to review them.
We do not use any other third-party services that receive your personal information.
Children's privacy
MahjCheck™ is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through MahjCheck™, please contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices and rights
Because MahjCheck™ doesn't store personal information about you, there is typically no personal data for us to access, correct, or delete on request. If you have questions about information you've sent us directly (for example, through support emails), you can contact us at the address below to request access or deletion.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information below.
Data security
We take reasonable steps to protect the limited information MahjCheck™ handles, including using encrypted connections (HTTPS) when transmitting data to Anthropic's API. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as MahjCheck™ evolves. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be communicated within the app or on our website.
